Becoming Human

Becoming Human, the still amazing online documentary from Terra Incognita, has been one of my biggest influence and inspiration over the years. First opened in 2001, this was the first truly engaging production that made me forget that I was looking at an "online" work.

And when I look at it now, it’s amazing how fresh and innovative it still is. From the Ken Burns-like treatment of the still photographs to the superbly written script, to the rich usage of understated but thoughtful interactive elements, it really was one of the pieces that inspired me to look at online work in a whole different way, and gave me the first indication that the interactive media had just as much, if not more, potential than print or television.

Ken Burn’s Jazz
Ken Burn's getting more deserved attention for his new series The War, but many have missed his other masterpiece Jazz. Get it for your iTunes, or from Amazon. I say it makes a super X-mas (already!) present as well.
