Wondering how to effectively measure your page speeds and cross-check with multiple measurements? Try these great tools, thanks to Smashingapps.com.

I recommend getting multiple measurements with at least 2 services, and keep the speeds documented as you update, change, and optimize your site. And don’t forget that Google now makes the speed of your pages part of its ranking formula!

Oh how I wish I could travel to the land of Jisung Park (a big fan!) and take in the fabulous new, and first, national ExpressionEngine conference in Manchester, England.
If you’d like to combine EE-learning opportunities with a trip to England, this just may be your opportunity. The conference has some amazing speakers lined up, and is quite affordable at 99 pounds per seat. Head over to http://www.eeuk.org/ for more information.

Don’t miss EngineSummit 3, happening on June 7th!

What is EngineSummit? It’s an online conference (yes, attend with your pajamas on) that has some of the best speakers and practitioners of EE lined up to discuss everything from running a multi-site installation, developing an add-on, building for mobile, and more.
This year will also end with the incomparable Leslie Doherty, the Director of Marketing for EE speaking on the current state of EE and the community.

Christopher Schmitt of EngineSummit explains why he started EngineSummit:

“The number one reason we do this is for the community. The Engine Summit started out as part of our “CMS Days” event we did a while back.

We covered Drupal, Django and WordPress as well as ExpressionEngine during the event. And out of the online conferences we did we did that week—and not to take anything away from the other communities—we had the best time chatting and sharing tips, tricks and techniques with the EE speakers and attendees.

Now it’s not so much putting together another conference for us, but looking forward to hanging out with friends.”

Visit EngineSummit and the full line-up here!

New options for using beautiful, custom fonts online

Until recently, all websites were limited to the “system” fonts distributed by Microsoft and Apple when choosing a typeface for our websites. Thanks to services like TypeKit, Cufón, and Google Webfonts, that is no longer the case.

Take a look at each to compare, but it’s certainly an exciting time for those work on the web, and also love typography.

Creat//ee’s very excited to announce that we’re now part of ExpressionEngine’s Community Partner program!
We’d like to thank those who’ve attended our sessions (or left us encouraging notes from afar), and the folks at EllisLab (especially to Leslie Doherty and Leslie Camacho for their incredible support ever since we’ve been involved in the EE community.)

As a Community Partner, we hope to be more out in the community, continue to improve our curriculums, and offer more free Meetups or webinars.

Thank you!

Jae & Angelina

P.S. Just in case you’ve missed it, here’s Leslie’s blog entry interviewing us for the announcement

Web Trends: Larger mobile screens becoming more popular

iPhone and it’s 320x480 screen size is still the most prevalent, but looking deeper into the stats say that the ubiquitous resolution actually decreased by a whopping 21.4% last year. What size increased its market share the most? It’s the relatively spacious 480x800 resolution, going up more than 7.7% in 12 months.
P.S. If you’re wondering how Apple is doing vs. other platforms, there’s still a wide gap between iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android, Symbian, etc., holding a steady 48.9% share among all mobile operating systems.
